Last month, I took a big step in my professional journey: I earned my insurance license.
For me, this isn’t just a credential—it’s a milestone.
I’ve spent more than 20 years in education assessing students and supporting goals across regular and special education—math, reading, time management, and everything in between. I hold a master’s degree in Education and Special Education, and I’m licensed in New York State to teach from birth through grade 12. I know how to build a lesson plan and write a progress report in my sleep. I’m used to collaborating with teachers, principals, families, “little people,” and district representatives—and I’ve always believed that when people feel understood and supported, they can do remarkable things.
That belief is exactly what’s driven the pivotal turn my life has taken over the past year.
I’ve joined Retek Benefit Solutions as the Director of Operations—and I’m proud to say I’m officially licensed to support the work we do. Retek has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. It’s a family business founded and built by my parents, and insurance has been part of our dinner-table conversations for as long as I’ve had a seat at the table.
Now that I’m on the team, I’ve gained an even deeper appreciation for what makes Retek special: a professional staff that puts people first in every interaction—whether we’re working with clients or carrier representatives.
Today, my focus is helping organizations create and manage employee benefits packages that are practical, clear, and aligned with their goals. And if there’s one thing education has taught me, it’s this: understanding changes outcomes.
In benefits, education is the difference between:
- Employees feeling overwhelmed vs. confident
- Plans being underused vs. used wisely
- Enrollment being stressful vs. organized and smooth
That’s why I’m passionate about making sure employees know what’s available to them, how their plans work, and what the enrollment process really looks like—without confusion or fine-print headaches.
And just like in the school system, communication is everything. When business owners, HR teams, employees, and partners are on the same page, benefits become a true support system—not just another item on a checklist.
I’m excited to bring my educator’s mindset into the benefits space and support business owners and HR directors who want to stay ACA compliant while also keeping their offerings competitive and consistent with industry norms.
This new chapter feels like the perfect blend of where I’ve been and where I’m going—and I’m looking forward to bringing real value, clear guidance, and strong partnership to every organization I serve.
